Allen-Bradley 1747-SN SLC 500 Remote I/O Scanner Module
Allen-Bradley 1747-SN is the SLC 500 Remote I/O scanner module that lets the SLC processor control Remote I/O adapter links – up to 3050 m of cable and 16 (32 complementary) device connections.
Overview
Installed in the local chassis, the 1747-SN scans remote I/O adapters over the RIO link in normal mode (up to 16 device connections) or complementary mode (up to 32), supporting distributed controller applications and connections between I/O adapters and controllers. The RIO link runs up to 3050 m (10,000 ft), with integrated noise immunity for electrically harsh environments. The module draws 600 mA at 5 V DC from the backplane and is rated 0 to 40 °C operating, 0 to 50 °C storage, up to 1000 m altitude.

The 1747-SN is the scanner half of a classic SLC 500 remote I/O system: pair it with 1747-ASB adapters in remote 1746 chassis to distribute I/O across a line, a building or between buildings. It remains in wide service on installed A-B RIO networks and pairs directly with 1771-ASB remote adapters when SLC processors must control PLC-5 family I/O.
