Allen-Bradley 1747-KE SLC 500 DH-485/RS-232C Communication Interface Module
Allen-Bradley 1747-KE is a DH-485/RS-232C communication interface module that bridges DF1 devices to the DH-485 network from inside an SLC 500 chassis.
Overview
The 1747-KE provides three front-panel communication ports – CONFIG (ASCII terminal configuration), DF1 and DH-485 – and converts between the DH-485 token-passing network and DF1 full- or half-duplex links at 300 to 19200 bps. The DF1 port configures for RS-232/423, RS-422 or RS-485 devices, and modems (including dial-up) connect directly through the DF1 port. Configuration is held in battery-backed RAM, ports are isolated 500 V DC from the backplane and from each other, and the module draws only 150 mA @ 5 V DC and 40 mA @ 24 V DC. Eight front-panel LEDs report module and network status.

Applications
The 1747-KE connects SLC 500 systems to SCADA and HMI equipment over switched telephone lines, radio modems or leased lines, and lets programming terminals and PanelView displays on DH-485 talk to remote DF1 devices. It remains the standard in-chassis bridge for legacy SLC networks that must reach out over serial infrastructure.
