Abstract:

This paper introduces the most advanced Allen-Bradley system applying in the coal conveying system of Fu-
jian QuanZhou power plant and details the specifications of data exchanging with other peer Allen-Bradley L62 system in
order to accomplish interlocking control.

With the continuous improvement of production technology and management requirements of thermal power plants, how to achieve efficient and stable production has gradually become a problem that many domestic power plants consider and urgently need to solve.
Nowadays, many power plants have changed from new plants to old plants. The obsolescence of production equipment and control systems, and the discontinuation of spare parts have increased the difficulty of maintenance. These factors have gradually become bottlenecks that hinder progress and development. Updating equipment and upgrading technology have become the only effective way to transform from an old plant to a new one. In this social context, there is a transformation project of the power plant coal conveying program control system mentioned in this article.

Project Overview

The coal handling program control system of Guodian Quanzhou Power Plant has two systems, Phase I and Phase II. This coal handling system renovation project will transform the Phase I system. The original Phase I system is a Schneider PLC system, and the IO system is a Turck IO module using the Profibus protocol. The gateway device is used to convert Profibus into Schneider Modbus protocol and then connected to the Schneider PLC. After 10 years of operation, the system’s Siemens Profibus communication system has become very unstable, and the phenomenon of intermittent connection and disconnection has seriously affected daily production. Since the control system hardware was purchased in the early stage and is now impossible to purchase and maintain, in order to ensure the stable operation of the system, this system renovation is to remove all the original system control cabinets, replace the PLC with the ABControlLogix L71 system, and replace the IO system with the AB1738 series IO module. In addition, it is necessary to realize data exchange between the new Phase I and Phase II ABControlLogix L62 systems to realize the interlocking operation of cross-devices in the two systems. The system consists of 10 stations, including the main control room station, MTT1.MTT2, MTT3.MTT4, MTT5.MTT6.MTT7.MSMJ, and coal bunker room 1.2 substations.
The main equipment of the system is shown in Table 1.
